Heating and air replacement in Charlotte

Out with the old. In with the new. Same week.

Say yes to the written quote and we book your install day. When the equipment is on our shelf, that day is usually the same week. If it has to be ordered, we tell you before you sign.

Install day

Install day, hour by hour

A typical one-system replacement. Two systems, or ducts that need work, can run into a second day, and your quote says so.

  1. 7:30 a.m.

Step 1: The crew arrives and covers the floors

Two installers and a lead. They walk the path from the truck to the unit with you, lay down floor runners and hang plastic at the attic door.

An entry hall with a staircase, hardwood floor and a return-air grille low on the wall
  2. 8:15 a.m.

Step 2: The old system comes out

Power goes off at the disconnect. Refrigerant is recovered, never vented, by a technician trained to handle it, and the old indoor and outdoor units are disconnected and carried out.

  3. 9:30 a.m.

Step 3: The new indoor unit goes in

Coil and air handler or furnace are set, with a new drain pan and a float switch. Duct connections are sealed with mastic, not tape.

  4. 11:00 a.m.

Step 4: The outdoor unit goes on a new pad

A level pad, new line set and a fresh disconnect where the code asks for one. The crew checks the clearance around the unit before they leave it.

  5. 12:30 p.m.

Step 5: Wiring, drain and thermostat

Low-voltage wiring, the condensate drain and the new thermostat. The lead asks what temperature you want and sets the schedule with you.

  6. 1:30 p.m.

    Step 6: Start-up and testing

The lines are pulled down to a vacuum, the charge is set by weight and the crew measures airflow and the temperature drop. The system runs a full cycle before anyone calls it done.

  7. 3:00 p.m.

    Step 7: Walk-through

The lead shows you the thermostat, the filter and the disconnect, and answers questions while the system runs. You get the model and serial numbers on paper.

  8. 4:00 p.m.

    Step 8: Cleanup and handover

Floors swept, plastic down, the old equipment on the truck. We give you the permit inspection date and help you register the equipment with its maker.

The houses

The Charlotte houses we change out

The equipment is only half of it. The house decides how the day goes.

  • A red brick colonial house with a pedimented black front door and shutters

    Colonial, Myers Park and Eastover

Two floors often means two systems of different ages. We can replace one now and plan the other, and we tell you which one is closer to the end.

    • One system or two, your choice

    • Zoning is discussed, never assumed

  • An aerial view of a two-story suburban house with a stone-front garage and a long driveway

Two-story suburban, Ballantyne to Lake Norman

A newer house with an attic unit upstairs and a unit in the garage closet. The equipment is usually sound and the ducts usually are too, so the job is mostly the swap.

    • Garage and closet air handlers

    • Permit and inspection are on us

  • A row of townhouses with vinyl siding, brick and bay windows

    Townhome and condo

The outdoor unit may have to sit where the HOA says, on a small pad, close to a neighbor. We check the rules and the sound level before the quote, not after.

    • HOA approval before the day

    • Placement and clearance on paper

  • A pale blue two-story house with a front porch and a white picket fence

Infill and new builds, South End to NoDa

Smaller lots and tight side yards. The outdoor unit goes where it clears the fence and the neighbor's window, and the line set takes the shortest honest route.

    • Side-yard clearances checked

    • Line-set route shown on the quote

Paying for it

Three terms for paying over time

We arrange financing through a lender and do not lend the money. The lender sets the rate and the monthly payment from your approved credit, and shows both before you accept. How the price itself is built is on the pricing page.

What customers said after install day

“I said yes on a Friday and the old unit was gone the next Wednesday. The lead walked me through the thermostat before he left.”

Keyonna P.Replaced an air conditioner and furnace

“I asked for the model numbers in writing and got them. The attic was cleaner when they left than when they came.”

Dajuan R.Brick ranch with an attic air handler

“I was nervous about the payment. Isela went through the lender's paper with me line by line, and I took it home for the weekend.”

Questions

Before you say yes

How long does a replacement take?

A one-system replacement is usually a single day, and the crew leaves when the system has run a full test cycle. A home with two systems, or one that needs duct changes, can take a second day. Your quote says which.

What if my equipment has to be ordered?

Then we tell you before you sign, with the date we expect it. Same-week installs depend on the equipment being on our shelf, the permit being filed and a day that works for you.

Do I have to be home?

Someone over 18 should be there at the start, to walk the path with the crew, and at the end, for the walk-through. In between, you can come and go.

Do you pull the permit?

Yes. We file the mechanical permit for the replacement and book the inspection. The inspector may visit after the install day, and we give you the date at handover.

How does financing work?

We arrange it through a lender and do not lend the money. The lender sets the rate and term after reviewing your credit, shows you the terms in writing and you decide. You can pay another way.

What about carbon monoxide?

If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, or you feel dizzy or sick, leave the house and call 911 before you call us. Every furnace replacement ends with a combustion test and a check of your alarms.

Ready for a quote you can read?

A home visit, a written quote with the model numbers and the permit on it, and an install day you pick.
